Commercial Construction Estimator
Job Overview:
As a Construction Estimator at Nichols Construction Team, you will play a critical role in the
pre-construction phase of our projects. You will be responsible for accurately preparing quality
commercial construction estimates including: order of magnitude estimates, conceptual budgets,
design development budgets, Guarantee Maximum Price estimates, construction bid documents,
small project proposals, etc.
Key Responsibilities:
• Project Estimation: Accurately prepare detailed cost estimates for a variety of
commercial construction projects, including new build, renovation, and design-build
projects.
• Bid Preparation: Collaborate with project managers and other team members to develop
competitive bids, including cost breakdowns and schedules.
• Material Takeoffs: Conduct material takeoffs and calculate quantities required for each
project.
• Subcontractor Coordination: Obtain and evaluate bids from subcontractors and
suppliers, ensuring that all costs are accounted for in the final estimate.
• Budget Management: Work closely with project managers to develop project budgets
and track costs throughout the project lifecycle.
• Risk Analysis: Identify potential risks and opportunities in project estimates and propose
solutions to mitigate risks.
• Municipality Requirements: Work with local governments to understand fee structure
and permit processes.
• Market Research: Stay updated on market trends, material costs, and labor rates to
ensure accurate and competitive estimates.
• Client Communication: Present estimates to clients and address any questions or
concerns they may have.
• Design Profession Interface: Working closely with Architects & Engineers to ensure the
best project feasibility design options to meet the client’s requirements, especially in a
design-build scenario.
Qualifications:
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Construction Estimator in the
commercial construction industry.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a
related field preferred.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, or
similar) and strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.
• Analytical Skills: Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to
effectively communicate with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
• Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and accuracy in estimating and cost analysis.
• Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced
environment.
• Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry
standards.

Construction Project Superintendent
Position Summary:
The Project Superintendent is responsible for leading and directing the overall on-site coordination, administration, direction, construction, and resource allocation for a project. Contingent on size of project, may also function as a project lead person, leading a team of trades people to perform a specific project or project task.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain customer relationships and provide immediate response to customers’ needs.
- Supervise the total on-site construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule. Includes interfacing with client representatives, project managers, architect/engineer representatives, other contractors, etc., to create a cooperative team-based job site environment.
- Plan, coordinate and supervise on-site functions including scheduling, material control/purchasing, job site quality control, and safety.
- Supervise trade associates and/or other contractors as required by the contract.
- May authorize and/or approve all project personnel transactions, purchase requisitions, field design change requests, etc.
- Provide technical assistance i.e., interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc., as required.
- Assist Project Manager in developing and implementing project procedures, establishing project schedules, working documents standards, etc.
- Ensure that on-site personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirements, work policies. Document all violations; notify Project Manager, recommend/implement corrective actions as required.
- Assume responsibility for daily job reporting, time keeping and accident reporting.
- Handle and properly code all delivery tickets.
- Assume responsibility for productivity of trades, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance of the project.
- Monitor, control and enforce company safety and hazard communication policy to assure compliance with OSHA requirements, project procedures and work policies. Document all violations; notify Project Manager.
- Mentor and assist with the development of an associate in the Project Superintendent-in-Training position.
Commercial Mason
Concrete Demolition, Footers, Foundations, Curbs, Sidewalks, Stairs, Poured Walls, Tilt Up and Masonry Block and Brick Construction.
Requirements:
- Read blueprints for all aspect of concrete and masonry work.
- Prepare stone base.
- Set the forms that hold concrete in place
- Install reinforcing rebar or mesh wire to strengthen the concrete
- Place, spread, level, and smooth concrete, using a trowel, float, or screed
- Mold expansion joints and edges
- Monitor curing (hardening) to ensure a durable, smooth, and uniform finish
- Requires the use of own hand tools and variety of basic power tools.
- Must possess strong work ethic, positive attitude, strong skills and has a attention to detail mindset
- One plus years’ experience.
- Position is long term employment
- Must have own transportation
Experienced Commercial Carpenter
All aspects of Carpentry Work Including Framing, Drywall, Painting, Ceilings, Doors, Windows & Hardware, Exterior Siding, Wood Trim & Cabinets, Demolition and Misc. Flooring
Requirements:
- Read blueprints and understand building layout.
- Construct metal / wood studs framing
- Hang, finish and paint drywall
- Install drop ceilings
- Install interior /exterior doors, windows and hardware.
- Requires the use of own hand tools and variety of basic power tools.
- Must possess strong work ethic, positive attitude, strong skills and has a attention to detail mindset.
- Position is long term employment
- Must have own transportation
